So… you know those really vivid dreams you have when you drift off between alarm snoozing?
This morning I dreamt that Tom Hardy had messaged because he wanted to book White House for a few days 🤪. I had to keep hitting that snooze!! The kids were nearly late for school. 🤣
I know some of you will understand.

Are you trying to tell us something but without telling us something....?!! Do I need to start hanging around outside the house?!!!!
A couple of weeks ago we had, for the first time in a year or so, a weekend free at White House.
We waited until the last minute…. And then called our friends, packed our bags and had a holiday!! We actually only stayed 2 nights but it felt like we’d been away for a week!
4 adults, 5 children and 2 dogs.
Friday evening- Yas cooked us an incredible curry. She was really excited about cooking it that kitchen!
The kids all piled into the hot tub and then had fish and chips by the fire. (From the brilliant Fair Green Fish Bar which is only a 2 minute drive away) They finished off the evening with a film and toasted marshmallows cooked in front of the woodburner. Once they were in bed it was star gazing from the hot tub for the adults!
Saturday- am… a trip to Wyken Hall farmer’s market to stock up on bread and pastries from the Wooster's bakery stall. We also picked up a huge fresh crab and a net of mussels. My parents joined us for lunch at the house. We ate left over curry and the mussels which Yas cooked in a curried coconut milk. The kids played in the hot tub again. It was a job to keep them out! We went out for the evening to a local fireworks display.
Sunday - A lazy morning with the kids in the hot tub (again!) while the adults enjoyed the hand made croissants and pain au chocolat bought at the farmer’s market.
After breakfast we took the children to the park in Diss. It’s a brilliant park and right on the edge of the mere where you can feed the hundreds of ducks.
We had lunch at the Angel Cafe on Fair Green and then drove to the stunning village of Laxfield (25 mins drive) where we enjoyed a pint by the fire at the King’s Head, also known as The Low House. It’s well worth a visit if you like old pubs. They have barrels in a tap room at the back rather than a bar and they keep their snacks in an old cupboard in the wall.
Back to the house- packed up- cleaned up and we were home again by Sunday evening.
You really don’t have to go far to feel like you’ve had a holiday!

Aren’t these wonderful? 🐾
Rather random but I thought you might like this…
We’ve recently renovated the old inglenook fireplace at our house. Amongst the old bricks we removed were these….
The Victorian brick makers clearly had a dog on site!

We have a Victorian brick with a cats paw print in it ☺️ think it’s amazing the history preserved like that ☺️
I like it. We had a cat print in our driveway at home for years 😂
Oh yes, dogs are soooo helpful with just about everything you really don’t want help with…. 😍🤣 Mine likes to ‘help’ open cardboard boxes and unpack the grocery shopping bags. 🙄
Ahh fantastic! What a wonderful find 😊
For all of the fallen. For all of those taken too soon, no matter the side.
Because all life is so precious. Because all have families who will grieve.
