Our Story
Hello!! And welcome to Waveney Cottages.
We are Sarah, a textile designer, and Stuart, a Roux trained chef, artisan baker and restorer of period properties.
We live on the Suffolk/Norfolk border with our three small children and two dogs. It’s a beautiful area with forest, heathland, undulating fields and river valleys, pretty market towns and medieval churches.
We’ve been working hard to restore three period properties to create stunning holiday cottages which we want to share with you.
Our cottages are perfectly situated in the rolling Waveney Valley and they’re a great base from which to explore Suffolk and Norfolk. The North Norfolk and Suffolk coastlines are just an hour away with numerous stunning beaches. You won’t be short of ideas for day trips if you visit us!
It’s been quite a journey and it’s not over yet! Our vision is very much a mix of traditional, upcycled and sustainably sourced items as well as utilising the best modern materials for that luxurious touch.
We’ve spent a lot of time at the local auction house! Our eclectic style means that vintage mirrors now hang beside period style brass beds laid with luxurious 100% cotton sheets and covers. You might find an antique lace pillowcase hiding in there too. You can sit back and watch a smart TV or ask Alexa for your favourite song whilst eating cake from a vintage tea plate. I don’t think we’ll ever tire of adding to the cottages.
We have three cottages available for holiday rentals which are suitable for couples, family groups or a gathering of friends.

We are also extending our offering to include residential courses which we will list on here as soon as we have finalised the details. Sarah is the face behind the very popular ‘Sarah Pattison Designs’ and she will be running textile courses. Stuart will be planning food-based courses to include bread making, mushroom foraging and visits to local artisans.
